Obstacles
Now that September Experience has ended and classes at Western has begun I have started to see some obstacles that may arise trying to juggle still being a student, and making the transition into being a teacher. During september experience I was there almost every day from 8:00 to 3:15. The students were aware of my presence and I was aware of everything that was occuring with each student on a daily basis. Now that classes at Western have started it has been hard to get used to only being in the classroom two mornings a week. I feel a little out of the loop, and I can tell that the students are a little confused at my absence, since they became so used to seeing me in the classroom everyday. September experience is a great program, however, it feels like you are finally a teacher, and now I feel like I am back in a practicum setting.

I appreciate your openness about sharing thoughts as you deal with this transition back to your university classes. Please realize that your impact on our community of learners is not in jeopardy - even though we'll only see you a couple mornings a week. You have definitely helped to create our classroom culture and after reading your insightful comments, I have a renewed commitment to "keep you in the heart of our classroom" each day - so there!
By the way, thank you for all your work with Words Their Way. We reviewed our cards together on Friday - what a busy group we were as children shared their approach to the sorts together.
See ya Tuesday, Joyce
Hi Corinne -- You and Joyce have the honor of being the first intern-teacher pair to exchange observations on this blog! Good for you. I wonder whether the blog might be a tool to keep you in touch on days you're not there?
take care,
David
Corrine-
I am glad to hear that others feel the struggle in the absence of most lessons and the constant development from the students. Sounds like your CT is supporting you all the way! Keep it up...
